I receive a ton of questions about my makeup, so I suppose it is only fitting my first ever blog post be on the subject! Believe it or not, this is the full face of makeup I wear Everyday. I’ve found what I love is a mixture of Luxury & drug store makeup. I wear either a full face or a no makeup at all, there’s no in between. Major shout out to women women who have mastered the 5 minute makeup routine – I don’t know how you do it! Anyway, let’s talk my everyday makeup routine, shall we?
Prep, Prime & Skin
I know the women of the world are deeply divided on this, but I do Face first then Eyes.
Moisturize – I use the Maelove One Cream. Maelove is a recent and incredible discovery for me. Their One Cream works with all skin types and moisturizes without clogging pores. Their products are on par with Luxury skincare brands, at a fraction of the cost. If you’re interested in more of my very elaborate skincare routine, there’s a blog post on that here.
Setting Spray – I’ve been using the Catrice Dewy Glow setting spray recently, but there’s a lot of drug store setting sprays that work very well, so there’s really no need to splurge on luxury brands. Some of my top favorites are: Catrice Dewy Glow Spray , Rimmel Stay Matte & and NYX Matte Finish – all are under $12!
Primer – I’ve been using the Tarte Poreless Matte Primer recently because it was on sale and I wanted to test it out, but prior to that was consistently using the Elf Poreless Putty . By comparison, the effectiveness of the two is essentially identical – you don’t need to spend your hard earned dollars on expensive primer.
Foundation – I’ve used the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear for three years. I get a lot of compliments on my skin and while I do work very hard on my skincare routine, the flawless natural matte finish I know everyone is complimenting on should be credited to Lancôme. It’s a bit of a splurge, but a nickle size amount goes a long way. One bottle will last me about 3 months if I wear foundation daily.
Concealer – Like many others i’m fully on the Shape Tape Train – I’ve been on it for about three years. I put three dots under my eyes & blend for an instant lift. You can dab some of the excess on your eyelids as a shadow primer. Both foundation and concealer are blended using these beauty blenders. These come in a pack of 5 for only $9! They’re such good quality they have 5K+ five-star reviews.
Bronze & Blush – I’m pretty stuck in my ways when it comes to bronzer because I have tried way to many that I wasn’t a fan of. I’ve used this loose bronzing powder since college. Apply using this brush in the motion of E ( and backwards E). I’ve only recently started wearing blush in the cooler months, but right now I’m really liking this one, in shade Paaarty.
Lids & Lashes
Shadow – I’ve been using the Tartlette in Bloom palette for about a year now. This palette comes with 12 matte and microshimer universally flattering, warm-toned shades. The colors are infused with Amazonian clay which allows for smooth blending and intense payoff. Daily, I use shades flower child, funny girl & jetsetter. For special events I use shades funny girl, smarty pants, & rocker. Fun news: This gem of a palette now comes in a “lil bloom” if you’re looking for something a bit smaller.
Lashes – I use either Maneater Liquid Eyeliner (Intense Black) or Almay Nice Ink (Topaz) depending on my mood. I love both of these because they are intensely pigmented, quick drying, and smudge-proof. My top two favorite volumizing Mascaras are TarteManEater and L’Oreal Voluminous both make your lashes POP and contain jojoba which helps maintain healthy lashes.
Lips
Lip Care – I’ve used Aquaphor instead of chapstick for years. Not only will a $5 tube last an insanely long time, it’s super moisturizing, and has a variety of uses. Making sure my lips are moisturized helps prep them to get the most out of those long wear lippies.
Pop of Color – On more low key days I will wear this lip balm in shade Orgasm – it’s a peachy pink with golden shimmer. When I want a more glam lip, I will use this clear lip plumber (burns a little tbh, but doesn’t last long). I will line with this lip liner followed by either this lipstick in Pillow Talk or this liquid Superstay Ink in shade Dreamer. The Superstay Ink has a 16 hour staying power, which makes it great for weddings and other special events.
